Nestled just outside of downtown Towson, Greenbrier is a warm, close-knit neighborhood known for its tree-lined streets, well-kept homes, and strong sense of community.
Greenbrier is walkable, family-friendly, and conveniently located near local schools, parks, and all the shopping and dining options Towson has to offer. While it feels tucked away, it’s just minutes from the beltway and downtown Baltimore, so residents experience the charm of a classic suburban neighborhood with easy access to everything.

About the GCA
Our Mission
The Greenbrier Community Association (GCA) strives to strengthen and improve our neighborhood through events, volunteer service opportunities, and activities that support the well-being of all Greenbrier citizens.
Who We Are
The GCA is a group of neighbors that volunteer their time for the betterment of the community. Any Greenbrier resident can elect to pay annual member dues to join. The executive committee is made up of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Each stretch of the neighborhood also has a Block Captain.
What We Do
In short, the GCA is here to serve the community. We host regular meetings to share ideas, concerns, or plan events that benefit folks in the 'brier. Through regular meetings, smaller committees may be formed to carry out needed projects or events.
The GCA is here to support anyone who calls Greenbrier home!

A 2026 Greenbrier Community Association Membership costs $35 per Household + $3.78 processing fee.
The GCA Fiscal Year runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31.

Greenbrier History
Greenbrier can trace its beginning to 1898 when James E. Green built his Victorian house on a parcel of property that sat on what is now Stevenson Lane. He called his home "Mornington", which it is still referred to as today.
There was no additional building until 1930 when Black & Decker Co. built four homes on what is now Greenbrier Road for their managers and their families. It was referred to as the "Subdivision of Black & Decker".
By 1945, there were 12 homes on Greenbrier Road, and the Greenbrier Improvement Association was incorporated, creating the Greenbrier Community.
For the next two decades, several different builders began building a variety of homes. Acquiring land from Aigburth and Eudowood estates.
Today, we have 193 homes completing the community of Greenbrier. This includes Linden Ave, Brook Rd, Hillen Rd, Overcrest Rd, and Holden Rd, in addition to the already mentioned Stevenson Lane and Greenbrier Rd.

Our Community
The charming neighborhood of Greenbrier is located in the heart of Towson, Maryland. Though the city of Towson has a population of more than 55,000 people, Greenbrier continues to be a quiet gem for longtime residents and new families alike.
Origins
There are two original homes that date back to the 19th century, when this area was considered rural countryside. One of the homes, a beautiful Victorian farm house called Mornington, stands at the intersection of Stevenson Lane and Greenbrier Road. Adjacent is our beautiful Greenbrier Memorial Garden is a peaceful place to reflect during neighborhood walks. The other original home is a sturdy historic stone house at the corner of Burke Ave./Hillen Ave. and Greenbrier Road.
In years gone by, there was a Ma and Pa Railroad with a trolley station in walking distance, which transported people from Stevenson Lane into Baltimore.
In the 1920s, Greenbrier Road anchored the community as homes were built and trees were planted. Homes continued to be built along Stevenson Lane, another spoke leading into the community. Subsequent waves of development in through the 1960's established Overcrest Road, Holden Road, and Brook Road, which rounded out what is now known as the Greenbrier Community.

Fun Fact
While filming Serial Mom, an American satirical black comedy crime film released in 1994, John Waters used several homes along Lake Dr (just north of the County Club) as the characters' homes. Some homes in Greenbrier were used for lighting storage during the filming. Info
Our Community
The Towson Communities Alliance is a nonprofit umbrella organization representing the interests and concerns of more than thirty community associations in the Greater Towson Maryland area. We are organized for the purpose of education, assistance in responsible development, and as a means of presenting a united front on common issues or problems too large or too complex to be handled effectively by individual community associations.
